Tampa Bay Lightning

Coming into the 2011-12 NHL hockey season, the Tampa Bay Lightning wanted to increase the longevity of the acrylic shielding they purchased the previous year at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. In order to prolong the lifespan of their shielding units, they chose to have HockeyShield® Performance 400 installed on each piece of acrylic.

Tampa Bay recently invested heavily in a dramatic arena upgrade project. New high efficiency lighting was installed, making the Tampa Bay Times Forum the brightest arena in the league. With the new lighting system, it was imperative to give fans the clearest view of the on-ice action. The Lightning chose to have three layers of Performance 400 installed on the acrylic behind each net and one layer up each side. When scratches and damage begins to impair visibility, a layer is removed to restore a crystal clear view.
